Kikutake had you instruct this project for approximately nine years until Tokyo Metropolitan University was retired from at the end of 2023, but what would the opening be?

Yuki Kikutake (following, Kikutake):

We have been working in what's called design using construction temporary wall of public construction site for many years in person. We had calling to "want you to think about project that was +FUN using construction site" from Mr. Hiroshi Naito of architect while Shibuya changed town by all these big redevelopment newly.

It had been time when we just arrived at the university and I predominated and did not plan and thought that it was significant for students whom working participated in for Shibuya as project with students. Therefore we started with the goal of producing work which we spent one year, and Shibuya could notify as part of program in class of graduate school.

Shimizu:

In the first place is Kikutake that it had what kind of opportunity that approach of temporary wall design of construction site was begun?

Kikutake:

Opportunity is to have felt overwhelming power on seeing temporary wall design for construction that covered up triumphal arch of Paris. We suggested design plan to cover by three-color color that French woman designer reminded of national flag of Paris to Paris City, and it was adopted by thought that I was sorry for that global tourist attraction in right in the front according to Champs-Elysees was covered with gray-colored mesh sheet for construction.

Shimizu:

This wants to shoot souvenir picture in construction site adversely. Only, at this time, new value is created through scene not to be able to come across.

Kikutake:

So. Besides, there was sequel and stuck a part of seat used in triumphal arch on postcard, and was sold. We thought that it was idea that point that covered expense that it cost for design of mesh sheet with the sales was fantastic.

It is work called "the Shibuya jungle" which student broadcasted in Shibuya scramble square large size vision until the end of March, 2025 with opportunity of idea produced. It is work which arrested building and cityscape of image of Hachi-ko and moyai, hope and Shibuya as element constituting the jungle and expresses Shibuya in original viewpoint only by student.

Project theme of this Shibuya underground shopping center outdoor unit fence art is "the Shibuya culture jungle". We were stimulated by idea of student, and, in viewpoint to capture chaotic diversity affirmatively, theme called "the Shibuya culture jungle" was born. We catch the word "chaos" positively, and various things are born and think that we hid fusing possibility. We wrapped up all the diversity and explored charm of town called Shibuya whether you could not send through design as land to permit.

Shimizu:

What's called temporary wall itself is surely blank that there is in chaotic town, too. We should be able to utilize there more and more as place where student and young artists who are going to flap from now on send own expression to. Not sense of values forced by force, we feel that it may be a chance to accept a variety of thoughts and sense of values naturally simply because it is town called "Shibuya". When it is such an expression and place that we can send, Shibuya thinks that you can know to various people.

Kikutake:

Outdoor unit fence is installed every day on the paved road in front of Shibuya Station where many people come and go. For several years, we are going to send with all of the Shibuya station square area management including Shimizu variously from now on using letter region of "SHIBUYA" under the theme of "the Shibuya culture jungle". We wish that we come to be able to notice incidentally at casual moment.

Shimizu:

Possibility is jam-packed. Image of moyai moved in January of this year, but various wait places are in Shibuya including Hachi-ko. If it is in new wait place and special place of people spending time in Shibuya, we are glad of this Shibuya underground shopping center outdoor unit fence art, too.

Kikutake:
